College Counseling

We have lots of great programs to help you find the right college!

Initial Consultation:
During the initial consultation, the student and parents will meet with the counselor and discuss the student’s current grades, activities, and what services we offer to see if it is a good fit.  At the consultation, FACT will provide a comprehensive “how-to” guide for college applications.  This guide is intended to describe, in detail, the expectations and roles of the student, parent and counselor during the college application process.  It also includes all the important dates and deadlines for that academic year, as well as “bonuses” such as interviewing techniques, essay suggestions, college visit guidelines and more.

HS Planning Package:
This package is designed for 8th or 9th Graders who want to get a head start on the college process.  Students receive customized advice on how to plan out their classes, standardized tests, test-prep and college-application process over their 4 years of High School. Highly recommended for those students who intend to apply to competitive 4-year colleges and universities.
Junior Package:
FACT’s junior package begins with a comprehensive student and parent questionnaire to determine a list of schools that match the student’s academic, social, athletic and financial needs.  The package also includes a plan for test-taking and preparation (if necessary) and creates a year-long calendar of college-related dates for the student. Students and parents have access to their counselor for help and advice throughout the year.
Senior Package:
The Senior Package includes consultations with a FACT counselor to refine the list of potential colleges for the applicant.  Counselor provides a detailed college application timeline, complete with deadlines and follow-up suggestions. Counselors will help edit application essays (ASK ABOUT FACT’s COLLEGE APPLICATION WRITING WORKSHOP FOR MORE DETAILS ON ESSAY SUGGESTIONS) and will compile all necessary documents for the application.  Students and their families will enjoy the organization and relief that comes from working with one of FACT’s outstanding counselors.

Supplemental Plans:

College Counseling for College Athletes
Whether you want to play at a top D-1 school or you are looking for a school with a great club program, this plan is for those student-athletes who plan on playing lacrosse in college.  Our counselors will give you honest advice on how to approach the entire process including:

•    camp & showcase scheduling,
•    referrals for outstanding video production,
•    how to contact coaches,
•    NCAA clearinghouse rules and regulations,
•    finding the right program

All our college counselors are former D-1 athletes and we even have a former college coach on staff!  They are all there to help you navigate the process and find the school and program that are the best fit for you!

College Counseling PLUS
Many of our college counseling clients are current and former tutoring students.  We wanted to create a plan that would encourage our loyal families to integrate college advising with their existing tutoring program.  This option is a great choice for those students who want extra help finding the right school and who also want to continue on their tutoring track.  Includes all the basic services listed in the Jr. and Sr. Packages above, as well as the College Essay Workshop!
